Parenting is all about relationships. And really good parents realize that having great relationships with their kids doesn't just happen by accident. Those relationships are created by commitment, hard work, and unconditional love.

Unconditional love is neither a "warm-fuzzy" feeling nor a "soft" sentimental emotion. It requires an intentional decision to relate to children in a certain way. Unconditional love is not permissive. It encourages responsibility and accountability. Children need structure in their lives. Coaching children to make wise, healthy choices is a primary task of parenting with unconditional love.

In order for this advice to be useful to us as parents, however, we must understand two things:

  1. Loving my child as I love myself won't do that child much good unless I have a healthy love and appreciation for myself.

  2. In order for me to love myself, I must first feel loved by Someone greater than myself.

Join us for this 6-week small group where we learn together how to build better relationship with our kids. Each small group will be no more than 8 people, and are meant to strengthen our confidence as parents/mentors of young people, and add tools to our toolbox as we lead the next generation into adulthood.
